Kim A-joong Promotes Her Film ' 200-pound Beauty' In Hong Kong

South Korean actress Kim A-joong was in Hong Kong promoting her new film, 200-pound Beauty.

The Korean film, adapted from a popular Japanese comic book, is a story about an overweight woman who transforms her life through plastic surgery.

There's no high medical technology in the romantic comedy film in which up-and-coming actress Kim A-joong takes the lead. Kim plays Hanna, a lip-sync vocalist for pop singer Amy, who moonlights as a telephone-sex operator on the side.

Hanna doesn't seem to care what people think of her until she is humiliated by Amy in front of the man she secretly loves, Sang-jun.

This spurs her into a life changing decision to have plastic surgery and an extreme makeover.

It's a classic "Cinderella story" with a happy ending enjoyed by more than six million cinema goers in South Korea.

But on a more serious note the film does explore the growing trend of pursuing beauty through surgery.

Kim A-joong said, "After filming 200 Pound Beauty, I have seen teenagers who tried to improve their looks through plastic surgery. When it goes wrong, it can be really serious. Plastic surgery is not just a simple process to make yourself more beautiful. It's a serious medical procedure."

During the publicity event, the Hong Kong actress Natalie Ng, the first celebrity to have admitted to having plastic surgery, presented flowers and a copy of her book to Kim A-joong.
